Forestry Mulching Project in Fayetteville, TN
A wooded Lincoln County tract that had grown up thick with brush and saplings, opened back up with forestry mulching while keeping the hardwoods standing.
From overgrown woods to clean, walkable land
The same wooded tract before and after. The mature trees stayed; the tangled understory did not.
Selective mulching that keeps the trees and feeds the soil
This forestry mulching project took place on a wooded property in Fayetteville, Tennessee, in the heart of Lincoln County. Like a lot of land in this area, the tract had good hardwoods worth keeping, but the ground beneath them had filled in over the years with dense undergrowth, saplings, and brush. The woods had become crowded and hard to walk, and the overgrowth was crowding out the very trees the owner wanted to protect.
Rather than clear-cut the area or haul everything off, we used forestry mulching to selectively clear the understory while leaving the mature trees standing. Our equipment grinds brush, small trees, and overgrowth into a fine mulch right where it falls. That mulch stays on the ground, breaks down naturally, and returns nutrients to the soil instead of being burned or trucked away.
The before photos show how thick the undergrowth had become. The after photos show the result: open, walkable woods with the canopy intact and a clean, even layer of mulch across the forest floor. The land went from overgrown and unusable to a healthy, manageable wooded space ready for recreation, hunting, or simply enjoying the property again.
This kind of selective mulching is one of the most popular services we provide around Fayetteville and Lincoln County. It improves the health and look of wooded land, reduces wildfire fuel by thinning dense brush, and makes a property far easier to walk and maintain, all with very little disturbance to the soil and no burn piles to clean up afterward.
